Volunteering is a fun and easy way to support Food For Thought Books. It helps keep our costs down, frees up time for staff to work on specific tasks, and builds community around the store.
Volunteers also get a sweet discount on everything in the store (bibliophiles, take note!).
We ask that folks commit to two shifts a month for at least three months. More frequent volunteer schedules are, of course, available if desired.
Store volunteer shifts are 2-3 hours long and occur on a regular weekly schedule:
- mornings: 11:00am - 1:00pm
- afternoons: 12:00pm - 3:00pm
- evenings: 3:00pm - 5:00pm
(Please note that this schedule is a general framework. If you want/need to work 2:00-4:00pm we won't discourage you. We may also change our hours at some point which will affect shift times.)
Volunteers receive up to 30% off books and merchandise!
This discount comes into effect after one month of volunteering.
There are many different ways folks can help:
Bookstore - We need people who would like to help with running the register, helping customers find books, shelving & arranging books, making displays, and general upkeep.
Events - We need help with set-up/break-down for events, flyering & outreach, and more. Please note: events are usually in the evenings, generally 6:00-10:00pm.
Events Programming - Interested in helping to plan & organize events at Food For Thought Books? Email email@example.com for more information.
If you're interested in volunteering, please download and fill out the application form below and either drop it off at the store or email it to firstname.lastname@example.org. The application is available in both .pdf and .doc formats.
